California Natural Gas Industry
One third of energy commodities consumed in California is natural gas. The natural gas market continues to evolve and service options expand, but its use falls mainly into four sectors - residential, commercial, industrial, and electric power generation. In addition, natural gas is a viable alternative to petroleum for use in cars, trucks, and buses. Alternative transportation-related vehicles are growing on consumers as well as the development of a safe, reliable refueling infrastructure. Links below have current and historical data, facts, and statistics on California's natural gas supply and demand. See Statewide Energy Demand for more information.

The California Energy Commission’s Energy Consumption Data Management System is a database that allows on-line searching of electricity and natural gas consumption data. The Energy Commission created this database for informal reporting purposes using numerous electricity and natural gas consumption data sources, and allows users to generate reports showing the amount of energy consumed by geographical area and sector (residential, commercial, industrial) classifications.
