Lead Commissioner Workshop: State, Regional, and Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Planning and Investment
Docket Number: 15-ALT-02
Lead Commissioner overseeing this proceeding:
Janea A. Scott
The Lead Commissioner for Transportation of the California Energy Commission, Janea A. Scott, will conduct a workshop to provide an overview and update on the numerous state, local, and other planning and investment activities occurring across the state of California. Key topics that will be discussed include:
- Update on state electric vehicle charging infrastructure investments and remaining need;
- Addressing social equity in infrastructure investments;
- Local and regional EV infrastructure planning efforts;
- Integration of investor-owned utilities' EV infrastructure investment proposals (as part of the CPUC Alternative Fuel Vehicle Proceedings) into local and regional planning and investment efforts.
In 2012, Governor Jerry Brown issued Executive order B-16-2-2012, calling for 1.5 million zero-emission vehicles on the road by 2025. It also called for charging and refueling infrastructure to support 1 million zero emission vehicles by 2020. To help provide needed infrastructure to achieve state goals, the California Energy Commission has provided grant funding through its Alternative and Renewable Fuel and Vehicle Technology Program to support EV infrastructure and ZEV regional readiness planning and implementation.
This workshop will set the stage for further evaluation of what significant infrastructure gaps must be overcome in order to meet state goals.
